Knee Wisdom + Advice
Welcome to the knee world.
You have just found a great resource for Knee pain and ligament injuries, knee arthritis, knee reconstruction and arthroscopy, minimally invasive computer aided knee replacement (total and partial), and patella (kneecap) problems, which are all explained here on this site.
Staying Active
Keep your joints working.
When we are young and healthy, we take our knees for granted. Of course injuries happen, but with the best assessment, treatment and rehab, we usually get back on track to doing what we love.
As we get older, our knees are less tolerant of being knocked about, twisted and jarred. We find that running is not so friendly to our knees. Walking, cycling and swimming become the preferred activities to keep fit and healthy and maintain strength and flexibility in our knees.
Eventually many of us will suffer arthritis, and that will curtail many of those activities. Then there are excellent structured programs (such as GLA:D) to help maintain muscle tone and keep some flexibility so we can stay mobile.
